ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - As we get older in life, it's only natural that we start to deal with parts of our bodies slowing down.

Lovelace Medical Center wants you to know however, that they have your back when you start dealing with these kinds of medical issues.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - It may not look like much, but to women with fibroadenomas, a benign tumor of the breast, this new machine is changing their lives.

“So I place the probe and make sure it’s nice and centered,” Dr. Timothy Erwin, a radiologist a Lovelace Women’s Hospital said.

No longer do women have to walk around with a painful lump that makes them anxious or concerned. But they don't have to go to an operating room either.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - Some first responders got a special treat as a "thank you" for their service.

Lovelace Medical Center served lunch to EMTs, paramedics, firefighters and police officers Tuesday.

Employees say it's just a small token of their appreciation for what they do on the streets.

"You know, we work kinda in conjunction with each other and we love the fact that we can say thank you. We wanna show that our community is bonded together and that we enjoy working with each other," Lovelace charge nurse Mario Migliore said.

ALBUQUERQUE – Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital has opened its newest outpatient clinic at 4250 Coors Blvd. SW, Unit C.

The 1,665-square-foot clinic in Albuquerque’s South Valley will offer services such as pain management, concussion treatment, fall prevention, foot and ankle rehabilitation, neurological impairment, orthopedics, physical therapy, spine rehabilitation, sports medicine and stroke rehabilitation.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Shifting demographics, an aging population and an increasing need for medical services are driving significant activity in the Albuquerque health care office sector.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - Lovelace is helping put life-saving machines in more public areas.

The hospital gave $10,000 to The Heart Hospital of New Mexico Foundation to purchase ten defibrillators.

The devices are used to deliver a jolt of electricity to restart a heart, in an effort to save a life before first responders can get to the scene.

They will be placed in community facilities which include Joy Junction, Petroglyph Little League, Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, Felix's Pantry, The Albuquerque Youth Basketball League and El Ranchitos De Los Ninos.

ALBUQUERQUE, May 31, 2018 – Through a $10,000 donation, Lovelace Health System has helped the Heart Hospital of New Mexico Foundation’s Project Pulse place 10 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in much-needed community organizations throughout New Mexico.

ALBUQUERQUE, May 15, 2018 — Lovelace Westside Hospital and Lovelace Regional Hospital both earned “A” grades from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for Spring 2018.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only independent ratings program that focuses exclusively on how effectively hospitals keep their patients safe, making it the gold standard measure of patient safety focusing on patient infections, including falls and trauma, and preventable complications from surgery.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - By the end of the day Friday, more than 100 female volunteers will have spent about 500 hours building a house for an Albuquerque mom.

In just the first five days, the women helped go from just a slab of cement to nearly finishing the walls and structure of the entire first floor.

“The progress that we've made is pretty amazing,” said Bill Reilly, construction manager for Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A study published in February highlights New Mexico as having more successful midwife programs than most of the country.

A group of researchers ranked New Mexico second in the U.S. when it comes to the high number of midwives, and low number of pregnancy-related complications. “New Mexico as a state with its high number of midwives practicing here, has some of the lowest cesarean birth rates around the country,” said Dr. Abraham Lichtmacher, Chief of Women’s Services with Lovelace Health System.
