Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatry, is a subspecialty of medicine that manages a wide range of conditions that involve the nervous and musculoskeletal systems, focusing on restoring function, independence and quality of life. This specialty emphasizes the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of people disabled by disease, disorder or injury.
