Local hospital's new push to get help for pregnant drug addicts

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) - A local hospital is helping pregnant women addicted to opioids.

The "Grace Program" at Lovelace Hospital recently partnered with the Albuquerque Police Department. The partnership allows officers to direct pregnant women suffering from addiction toward free medical help.

"A large number of patients do have behavioral problems, mental health issues, social issues, homelessness, domestic abuse," said Abraham Lichtmacher, Chief of Women's Services.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A big dance party in Albuquerque got hearts pumping while promoting cardiovascular health. Lovelace Women’s Hospital hosted its 14th Annual Day of Dance at Hotel Albuquerque Saturday afternoon.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– Albuquerque seniors had a chance to check up on their health.

The Heart Hospital of New Mexico held a Senior Summit and Health Fair Saturday. Doctors met up with visitors and coordinated health screenings with those who asked for them. Dozens of people showed up for the event.

"It was well worth the trip down there to see if some of these vendors and see what was out there," says attendee Bryant Arnink.

Heath and wellness vendors also showed up, allowing seniors to check out different health tips.
