Lovelace Recognized for Quality

Lovelace Westside Hospital has received the 2012 Zia Award from New Mexico Quality Awards for demonstrating the highest level of performance excellence and being considered the “Best in Class” and a role model in New Mexico. The New Mexico Quality Awards, modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, provides participating organizations with feedback on their strengths and their opportunities for improvement. The winners will be recognized at an award ceremony in April 2013.

Movember Grows in Popularity with Focus on Men’s Health

What started in 2003 as clever campaign to bring the mustache back, quickly became a global phenomenon when the creators from Australia teamed up with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia the following year to dovetail the focus on fashion to a focus on men’s health.  Today, the campaign raises awareness and money for men’s charities targeting prostate and testicular cancer. In 2011, the viral campaign raised more than 120 million dollars during the month of November.

Two Women, One Diagnosis: Breast Cancer

34 is young. 32 even younger. Two women in the middle of raising young families felt the sudden abandonment of their health during what should have been one of their strongest and most energetic decades of their lives. Neither Susan Pompeo nor Andrea Contreras knew their seemingly parallel yet independent lives would take the course 1 in 8 women in the United States find themselves on every year. Entry is abrupt and the journey unknown when standing before the words, “It’s breast cancer.”

Lovelace Recognized as Best Place to Work: NMBW/Modern Healthcare

Congratulations to Lovelace Women’s Hospital for being selected as a finalist in the Large Company Category for New Mexico Business Weekly’s Best Places to Work. Scores are determined by the results of employee surveys. New Mexico Business Weekly will recognize the finalists and the reveal the top scorers in each category at the Best Places to Work luncheon in December.

NM Superintendent Discusses Transition in Care with Lovelace Health Plan and ABQ Health Partners

New Mexico Superintendent, John Franchini requested both Lovelace Health Plan and ABQ Health Partners meet today to discuss the termination of their contract by ABQ Health Partners. With Lovelace Health plan members now faced with the decision to find a new provider or new insurance by the November 8 deadline, Franchini asked for both sides to discuss transition of care for members. Lovelace Women’s Hospital offers Mobile Mammography Unit at Santa Ana Star Casino

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Santa Ana Star Casino is teaming up with Lovelace Women’s Hospital and Assured Imaging for the second consecutive year to offer mammograms at little or no cost to participants.  As breast cancer is the second leading cancer among U.S. women according to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer screenings will be conducted onboard Lovelace Women’s Hospital’s mobile mammography unit on Friday, Nov. 2, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Joint Commission Names Lovelace Women’s Hospital as Top Performer on Key Quality Measures

Lovelace Women’s Hospital is the only Albuquerque hospital to be recognized by the
Joint Commission as a Top Performer on key quality measures for pneumonia and surgical
care in 2011. The hospital met or exceeded 95 percent performance on these quality measures.
The report just released by the Joint Commission lists 620 hospitals as Top Performers, which is
the top 18 percent of hospitals across the country.
