Mark Werner, M.D.

Doctor Mark E. Werner is a board certified orthopedic surgeon doing primarily joint replacement surgery, but also performs other orthopedic and sports medicine procedures.  He specializes in anterior hip replacement, done by only a few surgeons in New Mexico. Dr. Werner has been in orthopedics over 25 years, having done his medical training with the United States Air Force, and then working in the Air Force until he retired.  He was stationed in many locations, such as Lackland AFB in Texas, Osan AB in South Korea, Lakenheath AB in England, Minot AFB in North Dakota, Travis AFB in northern California, and Kirtland AFB here in Albuquerque.  During his time in the Air Force, he was deployed to Balad Air Base in Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM where he treated many wounded warriors.  You may have seen him on the Discovery Health channel highlighting the medical care by our forces in Iraq.  He was recognized for his involvement in numerous campaigns during his military career.  In 2009, he retired with full honors at the rank of full Colonel. He has been in Albuquerque since retiring, working for the VA hospital and then Lovelace Hospitals.   His other interests include travel, mountain biking and snow skiing.
