New Mexico Superintendent, John Franchini requested both Lovelace Health Plan and ABQ Health Partners meet today to discuss the termination of their contract by ABQ Health Partners. With Lovelace Health plan members now faced with the decision to find a new provider or new insurance by the November 8 deadline, Franchini asked for both sides to discuss transition of care for members. Here is a portion of the statement Franchini released.
"Understanding that the health and well being of New Mexicans remains our foremost goal, we are pleased to share the results of a thoughtful and productive meeting with representatives from Lovelace Health Plan (LHP) and ABQ Health Partners (ABQ HP).
At my request, leaders from the two organizations met with me to discuss their contract termination and how to ensure individuals, particularly the elderly, do not have gaps in their health care pertaining to the Nov. 8th deadline."
