ALBUQUERQUE, November 19, 2024 — Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center (HHNM) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
HHNM underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review August 5 - 6. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with LVAD standards spanning several areas including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and patient and community education – as well as clear metrics to evaluate program outcomes.
“Earning The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for our LVAD program demonstrates that we have the resources and commitment to provide the best possible care for our patients,” said Brian Miller, administrator of Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center. “We are dedicated to providing state-of-the art procedures and clinical trials to our patients, right here in New Mexico, delivering the highest quality of cardiology services to our community.”
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
