ALBUQUERQUE – June 6, 2024 – Lovelace Medical Center (LMC) has acquired the only Intuitive da Vinci 5 ® surgical system in the state of New Mexico, demonstrating its commitment to the most advanced technology available in minimally invasive surgery. Erica McBride, DO, general surgeon with Lovelace Medical Group (LMG) repaired a recurrent inguinal hernia for the first surgical case.
“As the surgeon, I am 100% in control of the robotic-assisted system, which translates my hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body,” said Dr. McBride. “This means smaller incisions, less pain for the patient, faster recovery and better outcomes.”
The da Vinci 5 robotic system is Intuitive’s most advanced and integrated platform for minimally invasive surgical procedures for urology, gynecology, thoracic and general surgery cases.
“We are thrilled to be a leader in this field and look forward to continually bringing advanced minimally invasive surgical options to New Mexico,” said Brian Miller, chief executive officer for LMC. “Our highly skilled surgeons and care team are committed to providing the most state-of-the-art treatment options for our patients, while delivering the highest quality of care.”
