ALBUQUERQUE – September 21, 2015 – In celebration of National Rehabilitation Awareness Week September 20-26, Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital is holding several events.
The first is the second annual Therapy Pet Parade on Tuesday, September 22 from 10am-11am in the hospital lobby. This event recognizes the importance of therapy pets such as dogs and cats used to help patients through physical or occupational therapy. Bystanders are welcome to participate.
The hospital will also hold a health fair on Saturday, September 26 from 10am – 2pm at the hospital. This free community health fair includes informational resources, screens, demonstrations, food, fun and more. Wheel chair maintenance (limited to repairs able to be performed on-site), screenings and equipment demonstrations will also be available.
While the event is free, attendees are encouraged to register by calling (505) 898-3030.
The hospital will also be hosting an employee appreciation picnic and a patient reunion throughout the week.
National Rehabilitation Awareness Week was established to educate people about the benefits and impact of rehabilitation; develop programs which aim to increase opportunities for the nearly 50 million Americans with disabilities, and help those who are disabled live up to their fullest potential.
