New Mexico Heart Institute acquire state-of-the-art CT scanner for cardiac patients

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ALBUQUERQUE – December 5, 2025 – New Mexico Heart Institute, a department of Lovelace Medical Center (NMHI) recently installed in its clinic the SOMATOM Pro.Pulse computerized tomography scan (CT), delivering a faster and more precise cardiac CT scan for patients with chest pain treatment and increasingly complex clinical conditions. Its precision scanning capabilities make it possible to scan cardiac patients with irregular heart rates, limited breath-holding ability or sedation needs.

Pro.Pulse’s intelligent workflow with embedded AI features simplify the scanning process so technologists can spend more time with patients during the exam. The CT was designed with comfort in mind while delivering precise positioning technology. Mood lighting and innovative visual instructions keep patients at ease, generating personalized scans to tailor individualized treatment plans.

“There has been a significant increase in the demand for cardiac CT since the Chest Pain Guideline was published. This new Dual Source CT will be a game changer for many patients,” said NMHI President and electrophysiologist Sean Mazer, MD, FHRS, FACC. “With conclusive results in hand, physicians can now make the most informed decisions for better patient outcomes.”
