Lovelace Health System acquires six urgent care clinics in greater Albuquerque and Taos

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – January 3, 2025 – Lovelace Health System, a leading regional healthcare provider, announced today that it has acquired six urgent care clinics across Albuquerque and Taos, New Mexico, from NextCare Urgent Care. Four of the clinics are located in the Albuquerque area with two others located in Rio Rancho and Taos. All current NextCare Urgent Care employees at these locations will become part of the Lovelace team.

"Urgent care clinics play a vital role for those seeking same-day appointments or care for conditions that don’t require an emergency room visit," said Troy Greer, CEO of Lovelace Health System. "By expanding our urgent care offerings, we’re making it easier and more convenient for community members to access our skilled providers and care teams. As we continue to introduce more patient-focused ways to receive care, urgent care clinics are an essential part of our commitment to creating a better healthcare experience for everyone."

Following the acquisition, Lovelace will operate seven urgent care clinics. The urgent care clinics provide walk-in care for minor illnesses and injuries, treating patients three months and older. Conditions treated include fever, cold and flu, minor cuts that may need stitches, sprains and strains, possible broken bones or simple fractures, vomiting and diarrhea. The clinics will also provide x-ray imaging, occupational health services, workers’ compensation assessments, and testing for flu, strep and COVID-19.

During the coming months, the clinics will be fully integrated into the Lovelace system of care. In cases where follow-up care is needed, patients will have the option to see a Lovelace provider or an affiliated specialist.

Once the integration process is completed this summer, the clinics will be renamed and reflect the Lovelace brand.
