Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center and Lovelace Westside Hospital receive American Heart Association “Get With The Guidelines” Awards

ALBUQUERQUE – November 9, 2020 – Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center (Heart Hospital) has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Gold Plus with Honor Roll Quality Achievement Award, the Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke GOLD PLUS with Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll, both for the eighth consecutive year. Lovelace Westside Hospital received American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Silver with Target: Type 2 Diabetes.

The award recognizes the Heart Hospital’s   commitment to ensuring heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence. The goal is speeding recovery and reducing hospital readmissions for heart failure patients.

Both Heart Hospital and Lovelace Westside Hospital earned the Get with the Guidelines® - Stroke Target award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period. These measures include evaluation of the proper use of medications and other stroke treatments aligned with the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines to speed recovery and reduce death and disability for stroke patients. Before discharge, patients should also receive education on managing their health, receive a follow-up visit appointment as well as other care transition interventions.
