Saleem Al Mawed, M.D., M.Sc, is a certified Neurologist. Dr. Al Mawed earned his Doctorate of Medicine at Damascus University Faculty of Medicine in Syria, and completed a master of science in Clinical Research at the University of New Mexico. He has also completed a Neurology Residency at Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, Florida, and served as Chief Resident during his last year of residency. His clinical interests include treating headaches, strokes, brain bleeds, seizures, Parkinson’s disease, and peripheral neuropathy, among other neurological conditions. Dr. Al Mawed is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Medical Association. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys sports, music, reading, and learning other languages.

Very professional and caring way and listening carefully
Excellent
This was a first time visit and meeting with the assistant and the doctor so my discussion probably did same way all over the place. I did not know where to start that he directed me pretty good after leaving and going home When I was able to absorb the information given, he was really right on point of what I was going through. I may have been a hard case or person for him to understand what I was going through, but he got the gist of it. I wish my follow up appointment was closer than six months so I could let him know these things and be more clear and precise of the information he was needing. I was starting to discuss with them things. My Rheumatologist was dealing with as well as my spine doctor, but he would redirect me to the head which she has his expertise in. But through it all he got the information out of me that was needed, and his plan of action was right on point. I'm very excited to work with His recommendations
Very hard to understand because of his accent..
In the end Dr. Al Mawed told us he was not a long term MS doctor so he referred us to another doctor at UNM. We don't understand how a referral for a dramatic change in physical conditions by a patient with MS since 1993 goes to a non long-term physician and it took 8 months to see the referral and now we are referred again to a long-term specialist.
Dr. Al Mawed is excellent.

Explained needed support on right side of back to reduce pain, says he didn't recommend back brace
No extra care needed I go to receive botox its always a pleasure to visit
He took as much time as needed and confirmed if I was experiencing any symptoms and fully explained my diagnoses ensuring me it is valid

Dr. Al Mawed's approach is exemplary, in my opinion. He is direct and efficient without sacrificing a human approach. That is, he offers ample time for questions and clarification. He listens carefully with patience and respect. I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Al Mawed as my neurologist.
