ALBUQUERQUE – April 15, 2024 – Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center (HHNM) today announced the completion of New Mexico’s first FARAPULSE ™ Pulsed Field Ablation, a new alternative to standard-of-care thermal ablation, for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AFib). A non-thermal approach for the treatment of intermittent AFib, it is proven to be an effective treatment option for patients while minimizing risks associated with thermal ablation.

ALBUQUERQUE – April 5, 2024 –Lovelace Medical Center (LMC) completed its first right robotic pleural biopsy. The minimally invasive thoracic procedure was performed by Luis Cerda, M.D., cardiothoracic surgeon with the New Mexico Heart Institute/Lovelace Medical Group, using Intuitive’s Da Vinci Xi robotic system, which makes smaller incisions than the traditional open procedure, resulting in less postoperative pain, reduced infection risk and quicker recovery and hospital stay.

ALBUQUERQUE – January 8, 2024 – New Mexico Heart Institute/Lovelace Medical Group (NMHI) has enrolled the first patient in the world in the RECOVER IV randomized study comparing management strategies for patients with cardiogenic shock using the Impella CP®, an FDA-approved temporary heart pump, versus standard of care.
