Lovelace Women’s Hospital in Albuquerque has been named one of the best 100 places to work in health care in 2013 by Modern Healthcare Magazine.
It was the fifth consecutive year that the 120-bed hospital, which employs 750, made the magazine’s Top 100 list. It was the only New Mexico health care firm to make this year’s list, according to the magazine’s website.
The magazine based its rankings on company policies and practices in eight core areas including leadership and planning, working environment, training and development, culture and communications.
Carol Shelton, director of human resources at Lovelace Women’s Hospital, said that employee engagement and satisfaction leads to outstanding patient care. The hospital has established behavior standards that all prospective employees are asked to embrace, Shelton said.
Those standards include “respect, passion, teamwork and effective communication. We have to look for people who personify those standards because we want to be the employer of choice and we want outstanding patient care,” Shelton said.
Lovelace Women’s Hospital is one of six hospitals owned by Lovelace Health System.
