The Diabetes and Metabolism Care Clinic at Lovelace Medical Group/Southwest Medical Associates was accredited at the national level by the American Association of Diabetes Education.

In order to be accredited by the AADE, clinics must offer patient education aimed at behavior change with the goal of improving patients' health status. Diabetes education services are offered at three of the clinics' locations: Southwest Medical Associates Northside, Southwest Medical Associates Westside and Lovelace Medical Group at Constitution.

The Diabetes and Metabolism Care Clinic's Teresa Anderson, RDN, said the accreditation will improve patient confidence in the clinic.

“This accreditation is important because patients can be assured that we have the experience and training to offer comprehensive diabetes education and self-management support,” she said. “The Diabetes Education Accreditation Program validates that our program meets the national standards and assures the participants are receiving quality education to help support their needs in self-managing their diabetes.”
