Lovelace Women’s Hospital is proud to offer a comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation clinic including specialty programs for women’s health.

Our services and programs include:

Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

Our pelvic floor rehabilitation program is delivered by physical therapists with specialized training in the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction for problems including urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, constipation, post-surgical problems, sexual dysfunction and post-oncology intervention.

Our treatment options include, but are not limited to:

  • Biofeedback of the pelvic floor muscles
  • Pelvic floor strengthening and stretching
  • Modalities including electrical stimulation and thermal agents
  • Manual therapy
  • Bladder re-training
  • Patient education

Lymphedema Program

Our lymphedema certified therapists (CLTs) provide treatment and education for the comprehensive management of lymphedema.

Our treatment options include:

  • Manual lymph drainage and other manual techniques
  • Compression garment consultation and recommendations
  • Instruction in bandaging techniques
  • Therapeutic exercise and functional training
  • Education in self management and home program

Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Program

Our program benefits individuals during or after breast cancer treatment and is designed to assist patients to:

  • Improve range of motion, strength and endurance, and tissue mobility
  • Decrease risk of lymphedema, chronic pain and Axillary Web Syndrome
  • Improve ability to perform activities of daily living
  • Reduce fatigue and joint pain during chemotherapy
  • Decrease skin adhesions and cording during radiation treatment

Pregnancy and Postpartum Program

Our program benefits women during pregnancy or after delivery that are experiencing musculoskeletal pain such as low back pain, sciatica, pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel syndrome, diastasis recti, pelvic pain, incontinence and other symptoms.

Our treatment options include:

  • Evaluation of a pregnant or post-partum patient with musculoskeletal dysfunction or pain
  • Treatments performed observing pregnancy/post-partum precautions
  • Patient education for home program, positioning, post-partum recovery and wellness

Gynecological Cancer Rehabilitation Program

Our rehabilitation program is directed at treating pelvic floor dysfunction related to gynecological cancer. Our physical therapists are specially trained to treat pelvic floor dysfunction for problems including urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, constipation, post-surgical problems, sexual dysfunction and post-oncology intervention.

Our treatment options include, but are not limited to:

  • Biofeedback of the pelvic floor muscles
  • Pelvic floor strengthening and stretching
  • Modalities including electrical stimulation and thermal agents
  • Manual therapy
  • Bladder re-training
  • Lymphedema treatment
  • Therapeutic exercise and functional training

Hand & Upper Extremity Clinic

Our certified hand therapists (CHTs) specialize in hand and upper extremity conditions and provide specialized care including custom splinting, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, post-operative care, patient education, modalities and functional training.

We also offer specialized programs for pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel syndrome, post-surgical patients, arthritis and cumulative trauma.

Sportsmetrics™

Sportsmetrics™ is a research-based program to address the high incidence of serious knee injuries in young athletes. Young female athletes, in particular, have been found to sustain these injuries four to 6 times the rate of males.

The program incorporates plyometric exercise, stretching and weight training. The program is appropriate for athletes both after an injury and as a preventive measure.

Balance & Vestibular Rehabilitation

Most balance disorders can be treated successfully by balance retraining and/or vestibular rehabilitation. Our therapists are able to treat balance disorders though a variety of treatment options.

Comprehensive Physical and Occupational Therapy Services

Conditions for treatment include spine and extremity injuries/pain, balance disorders, neurological conditions, gait dysfunction, arthritis, post–surgical conditions, cumulative trauma disorders, sports injuries and soft tissue injuries.

Patients receive a full assessment of their problem with individualized treatment plans developed and implemented.

Massage Therapy

Licensed massage therapists offer a variety of massage techniques including deep tissue, craniosacral, trigger point massage, Swedish massage and manual lymph drainage.

  • Appointments offered Monday – Saturday.
  • Appointments do not require a physician referral.

Running Clinic

The Lovelace Women’s Hospital Running Clinic was developed to identify biomechanical problems in runners in order to prevent injury and training errors. It is appropriate for runners that are not injured.

The clinic fee is $75 and includes:

  • Biomechanical screening examination of strength, flexibility and movement patterns
  • Running gait analysis
  • Footwear assessment
  • Recommendations for improvement
