Our patients with high-risk pregnancies now have access to comprehensive care at Lovelace Women's Hospital that includes the latest research and treatment options in Maternal Fetal Medicine. We provide pre-pregnancy counseling for patients with medical problems and complicated obstetrical histories, as well as ongoing prenatal care for women who develop high-risk problems during pregnancy.

Our services include prenatal diagnosis and consultation, antepartum fetal surveillance and specialized fetal care, as well as a full range of diagnostic tests including fetal ultrasound, amniocentesis and specialized laboratory diagnostics.

UNM's Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists are committed to communication and close collaboration with Lovelace Women's Hospital's obstetricians and midwives.

We'll work closely with your obstetrician, midwife or family physician, who may refer you to us to evaluate a range of conditions, including:

Perinatologists from the University of New Mexico's Maternal Fetal Medicine program are now offering a complete range of services at Lovelace Women's Hospital for women experiencing high-risk pregnancies.

We schedule appointments during business hours, Monday - Friday. Consultation services are available 24/7. We gladly accept most insurance plans including all Lovelace Health Plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Molina Healthcare, CIGNA HealthCare, Medicaid, Medicare and many others.

About our Family Birthing Center

The Family Birthing Center at Lovelace Women's Hospital brings more than 3,600 babies into the world each year with the help of dedicated obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, obstetrical anesthesiologists, neonatologists, perinatologists and highly skilled nurses. The certified nurse midwives, who deliver many of our low-risk babies, have advanced training in prenatal care, birth and well-woman care.

We also offer a full calendar of childbirth classes, breast feeding services and parenting programs.
